Reminders

Due to the importance we place on preventable health care, reminders are sent to you on occasions for follow up investigations.

Teaching

Our practice has been a teaching practice for over 20 years. We are committed to help train the health practitioners of the future, and thus regularly have medical and nursing students, as well as GP registrars.

Results

The practice will contact patients who require a follow up appointment regarding results, for both urgent and non-urgent follow up appointments.

Referrals

Your doctor will assist in selecting the appropriate specialist or allied health professional. It is illegal for referrals to be back dated. A consultation for same is required.

Repeat Prescriptions

Best medical practice dictates a consultation should occur, but in some circumstances at your doctor's discretion, a repeat, for a small supply (not more than 2 months) may be done without a consultation. 48 hours notice is required and an administration fee of $20 will apply.

Medical Certificates

A medical certificate is a legal document and cannot be back dated. A consultation is required to obtain a certificate.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is respected. Patient information is kept confidential. Our full privacy policy is available for viewing at reception.

Bulk Billing

The doctors at Atherfield (excluding Dr Thompson) bulk bill pension & DVA patients, children under the age of 16, and patients and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

Please note: Dr Thompson does not bulk bill.

Charges apply for all Dr Thompsons patients including pension & DVA patients.

Effective from 1/12/24, if you have a valid aged pension card or DVA card and have been bulk billed by Dr Thompson within the last 2 years for a skin check, you will continue to be bulk billed at present.

Appointment Reminders

Our practice sends appointment reminders via SMS (HotDoc). You will be able to opt out when you receive your first SMS if you do not wish to receive SMS reminders.

Online Appointments

Our practice offers online appointment bookings via Hot Doc (Accessible through the "Book Appointment" button on the home page on our website or by downloading the HotDoc app on Google Play or the Apple App Store).

The following is a general guide to fees (Excluding Dr Thompson).
If required, please speak with our reception at time of booking.

  •   A standard consultation is $80 (Medicare rebate: $43.90)
  •   A long consultation (20 to 40 minutes) costs $120.00 (Medicare rebate $84.90)
  •   Skin Checks (Dr Thompson) cost $170 (Medicare Rebate $43.90 - $84.90)
  •   Laser Consultations (Dr Thompson) - 10 minute appointment costs $120 (Medicare Rebate $43.90), or a 20 minute appointment costs $170 (Medicare Rebate $84.90)
  •   Please note: Procedures, biopsies, cryotherapy of pre-malignant skin lesions >10mm and laser attract additional charges.
  •   If required, please speak with someone in reception at the time of booking.
  •   Payment can be made by cash, credit card or debit card.
  •   For your convenience, we offer Medicare Australia Easy-Claim service so that your refund from Medicare can be processed immediately into your debit card (cheque or savings).
